Artemis Akbary, the director of the Afghan LGBTQ Organization, has made remarkable contributions to addressing the demands and challenges faced by the Afghan LGBTQ+ community both inside Afghanistan and abroad since the Fall of Afghanistan. He played a crucial role in supporting the evacuation of LGBTQ+ Afghans and facilitated essential relief aid for those remaining in Afghanistan. He actively participates in significant events aimed at raising awareness about the community’s needs and challenges. Recently, he had the opportunity to brief members of the Security Council on these matters. In this interview, we highlight his important work and learn about the challenges and obstacles he is facing. He also shares his needs and demands from the international community to continue the important work he is doing.
