To aid in understanding the scale and impact of the Taliban’s edicts on the lives of Afghan women and girls, Femena maintains a tracker documenting restrictions imposed on women since the Taliban’s return to power. The tracker currently includes 138 edicts issued from August 2021 through the present.
The tracker was initially compiled by Femena and IANGEL, drawing on valuable resources including the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) tracker on the Taliban’s (Mis)Treatment of Women, as well as other credible sources. Femena continues to maintain and update the tracker as new information becomes available.
All sources for the edicts are listed, and we have sought to verify the information through multiple references wherever possible. The tracker includes only edicts that directly target women and girls.
