Prevention of Early Child Marriage in The Capital of Afghanistan

Kazemieh Mohagheq, has a master’s degree in political science and international relations from Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran. She started her teaching career in Afghanistan in 2005, while she was also in charge of reviewing the secondary school textbooks for the Afghan Ministry of Education. Besides teaching, she worked with various institutions to promote women’s and children’s rights. Mohaghegh was the director of a research study group that focused on women’s challenges. Investigating the sexual harassment of women in academic environments, specifically in several faculties of Kabul University, and the issue of early child marriage in the capital of Afghanistan are among the research works that were carried out by this group with the help of students.

In 2013, Mohaghegh was forced to leave Afghanistan and immigrate to Canada after problems arose at the university due to her political views. She is currently working with the Afghan-Canadian House of Culture.
