President Hassan Rouhani of Iran has said that violence is not the way to promote virtue. It’s being seen as an implicit criticism of the country’s morality police and in the light of a video that shows a woman being violently accosted because her headscarf isn’t sufficiently covering her hair. Sussan Tahmasebi, a leading Iranian women’s rights activist, says dealing with the morality policy is a humiliating experience for women in the country.
