Mona Zeineddine

(She/Her)

Mona Zeineddine is the Advocacy Specialist at Femena, where she coordinates and leads a number of advocacy initiatives, designed to ensure that the voices and perspectives of WHRDs and feminist movements are amplified at the regional and international levels.

Toward this end, she organizes events, briefings, and meetings with key policy influencers, including at the UN.

Mona also conducts research, writes policy briefs, and contributes to the drafting of submissions on developments and pushback on women’s rights in the SWANA region, as well as pressures faced by WHRDs, their organizations, and feminist movements.

Mona has over ten years of experience as a human rights and feminist advocate working with MENA-focused civil society organizations. Before her recent position as an Advocacy Specialist at Femena, Mona was the Programs Manager at Women Now for Development, where she led the organization’s programmatic and advocacy strategy. She was particularly focused on expanding WN’s work on transformative justice and accountability in the Syrian context through initiatives that support strategic litigation and feminist knowledge production. She also served as the Litigation Program Coordinator at the Syrian Center for Media and Freedom of Expression.

Mona holds an LLM in Gender, Conflict, and Human Rights and a BA in Political Studies from the American University of Beirut. A native of Lebanon, Mona currently lives in the UK. She is fluent in Arabic and English.
