Building and Sustaining our Movements
Building and Sustaining our Movements is a program of FEMENA which aims to examine more deeply the efforts of feminist movements in MENA and Asia regions to promote equality, through an intersectional approach, combat sexual and gender-based violence, change discriminatory laws and raise public awareness. We conduct this work through interviews and documentation of successful efforts.
The interview series includes conversations with feminists, women human rights defenders, rights advocates and leaders. Through these conversations, FEMENA aims to create a space for south-south learning and exchange and seeks to contribute to the documentation of the efforts of feminist movements. We try to capture the challenges that feminist movements and organizers have faced in their work as well as their successes and lessons learned. We aim to highlight innovative strategies and successes which can be shared across the region with others tackling similar issues.
