Testimony-Based Evidence from Afghanistan
This brief, based on interviews with women in Afghanistan, uses direct testimonies to reveal the human suffering behind the statistics. Our goal is to amplify the voices of Afghan women at a time when the Taliban strives to silence them.
It calls on the international community to reject normalization of the Taliban regime and to take urgent, concrete actions to protect and restore women’s rights in Afghanistan. It urges the international community to fund and meaningfully support informal women-led civic initiatives inside the country, whose vital work is under threat and diminishing due to a lack of access to funding. These informal groups must be recognized not only for their resilience but also for keeping Afghanistan’s civic space alive under Taliban repression.
